The Regis Group
Regis Group President
Wins Service Award

Marc Paul Chinoy, President of The Regis Group Inc., has received the “Citizen of the Year” award and was named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International, the highest individual award provided by local Rotary groups.

Ongoing Commitment
Chinoy received the award for his ongoing commitment to support the Northern Virginia Regional Community and for leading the Leesburg Daybreak Rotary through the creation and implementation of its first-ever strategic plan, reported Richard Storey, the club’s immediate past president and current Assistant District Governor with District 7610 of Rotary International.

Over a half year period, MPC worked with the Leesburg club to both craft the plan and develop a working roadmap for implementation. He then coached the members through taking control of the implementation process.

Above & Beyond
“It may sound cliché, but Marc really went above and beyond,” Storey said. “He didn’t just give us a plan and go on his way.  He demonstrated for us that the club’s work should be an ongoing effort with continuity.  As a result, we now have both a planning document that guides us and a review process for our mutual progress connected to our annual calendar.”

The Leesburg Club engages in a range of philanthropic efforts, including raising college scholarship money for local students, eradicating polio around the world, and assisting with third-world development initiatives such as increasing access to potable water.

Paul Harris Fellow
The award, presented at the Leesburg Rotary’s meeting on July 19, also establishes Chinoy as a Paul Harris Fellow, which is named in honor of the organization’s founder and accompanied by a $1,000 donation by the local club to Rotary International.

Focus on the Future
Guest Predictions:
Clint Good, AIA

Guest Predictions is a regular feature in which we ask leaders in a number of professions a set of questions that affect us all.

Clint Good, AIA is President of Clint Good Architects, PC located in Loudoun County, VA.  His firm pioneered in the area of environmental design, as it relates to interiors for both corporate space and private residences.  Good maintains that a healthy indoor environment is conducive to productivity and general well-being.  His clients extend beyond the Mid-Atlantic region to as far away as the Orient.

Q:     What changes in your professional environment in the past 3-5 years have you found to be the most beneficial?

A:    There are two changes that I have noticed.  One is the growth in the awareness of the environment and the need to be more sustainable in our development.  The second change is improvements in our ability to communicate which allows more productivity in our day to day operations.

Q:    What changes have been the most troubling to you?

A:    I have noticed a decline in general optimism since the early 2000’s.  Perhaps there is a correlation to the tragedy of 9/11 or perhaps it is simply a manifestation of an aging population.

Q:     How will globalization affect your professional area in the near term?

A:     Very positively—we have expanded our marketplace to include the world.  Leaders from distant quarters of the world have expressed needs to access to our services and we, as result, we are excited to serve expanded markets, at times at a distance.

Q:     What significant challenges might be anticipated in your professional area in the next few years?

A:    In addition to the economy, the main challenge is again related to the aging population, which appears to have less of a need for infrastructure than when they were individually growing their businesses and families.

Q:     What are the greatest challenges confronting young professionals in Western culture today?

A:      In my profession, the youth do not appear to have the same guidance and mentoring as when I was an apprentice.  Furthermore, there is a sense that they may not be receiving as  comprehensive an education in college as the boomer generation before them received.

President's Letter
"Doing the Right Thing"

Greetings,

As we stand on the verge of a potential re-acceleration of our general economy, it is important to remember that how we interact with each other can be the “make it or break it” for revenue growth on so many levels.

The best business in tough times is often developed through the exploration of mutual benefit in compatible groups.

The best of the best at these moments is to not forget those among us who have been impacted the most, by helping them understand how to step on the escalator as it now trends in the right direction.

As always, we would like to hear from you with ideas as to how you may have set about making these concepts work for you.

Marc
