The Regis Group
BACKGROUND AND CANDIDATES FOR CONVERTING YOUR CAREER

“Converting Your Career” (CYC) was designed by The Regis Group, Inc. (TRG) after multiple experiments with professional training offerings.  Additional subjects include Professional Group Planning Facilitation and the Marketing of Professional Services.  Please send TRG a message about the aspects of personal skill enhancement that might be of interest.  Messages will NOT place your identity in a database (you may remain anonymous) and WILL result in an answer.

The targeted candidate for CYC has at least 10 years working as a professional or team participant in a wide array of areas.

Examples might include:
Technical Support to a professional function behind a publicly offered function ranging from Hospital, Airport, Fire Department,  Highway Group, Municipal Government to a High School / Community College / University System. Management of a unit within a multi-part enterprise ranging from Pharmaceutical Manufacture to Mining.

The formal training level of a candidate (e.g. Bachelor of Arts) is of less consequence than years of working experience.  Whether or not the individual has already been the beneficiary of ‘out-placement services’ is or no direct consequence, if the candidate wishes to be offered a full view of a track toward independent consultancy.

If you believe CYC might be for you or someone you know there is no obligation, either expressed or implied in contacting our team at TRG. You may do so by emailing us at: infotrg@regisgroup.com or by contacting us during business hours (9 – 5) EST. 703.777.2233

CONVERTING YOUR CAREER
NEXT STEPS FOR YOU

The comments received from the participants at the end of the “Converting Your Career” (CYC) offered at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati on April 7th showed universal enthusiasm.  As a result we are in several discussions for the placement of the next round or presentations at other sites.

The characteristics of the ideal venture group and site are:

The Partnering Group – A membership organization with a common professional discipline in which a significant percentage of the membership are ‘on staff’ and have been so for years.  While the typical participant will be a 45 to 60 years old, with 10 or more years in a single track, as a result of the responses, TRG now understands that there is value to professionals of every age, if they are inclined to wrap an independent professional offering around their skills.

The Site – A professional presentation setting with individual ‘work-station’ seating and a ‘computer-synchronized’ projection facility.  Ideally, the site will have free on-site parking and direct food service capability.  Hospitals, mid-full sized professional organizations (Law or Accounting Firms) and a wide range of Professional Associations with their own or full-sized “shared” facilities make perfect environments.

The Need – A well understood desire to both diversify individual revenue and expand the host group’s offering to both its membership / constituency and beyond.   Prospect groups will have reached a moment when they desire to enhance the value they bring by diversifying their offering.

The Offering – TRG is NOT seeking a license fee or other financial front end compensation. The ideal set-up will have both TRG and the venture group(s) dividing the revenue from the individual participants and paid directly to the offering ‘partner’ groups, including TRG.

First Steps:  There is no obligation, either expressed or implied in contacting our team at TRG to better understand the possibilities.  You may do so by emailing us at: infotrg@regisgroup.com or by contacting us during business hours

Focus on the Future
Guest Predictions:
Deborah Cornwell

Guest Predictions is a regular feature in which we ask leaders in a number of professions a set of questions that affect us all.

Deborah is in the process of establishing "Living Silks Floral & Design Studio"

In many ways Deborah typifies the concept of “Converting Your Career”.  Born to a family with multiple generations in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Deborah will be retiring with esteem from a key facility management responsibility for the Vocational Education Center in Frederick County this summer.  In July she will turn to her life’s passion, floral design, by opening a studio, with a range of clients already in place. Additionally, she will be making herself available to counsel the next generation of those who care about the quality of educational facilities throughout the nation.  Look for more about the opening of her offerings through TRG’s and her own new website, to become active in July and announced in “The Agenda”.

Q:     What changes in your professional environment in the past 3-5 years have you found to be the most beneficial?

A:    The quality of the elements to be used on floral display has improved significantly.  Combined with a steadily increased confidence with my methods, the result has been continuously improved satisfaction.  In the facility world, a range of specialized training has given me a better insight into not only how to improve myself, but also how to help those around me.

Q:    What changes have been the most troubling to you?

A:    I am concerned with the lack of training of the generation coming into place.

Q:     How will globalization affect your professional area in the near term?

A:   The prospect of being connected to like-minded professionals in other parts of America is very appealing.

Q:     What significant challenges might be anticipated in your professional area in the next few years?

A:    Continuous change, while most welcome, does provide a constant need for close attention to trends and methods.

Q:     What are the greatest challenges confronting young professionals in Western culture today?

A:    At this moment, the decline in the economy has reduced opportunities that should be there for young people who wish to advance.

NEXT STEPS

Every month thousands of our colleagues are finding themselves with an all too familiar dilemma… Their lifetime professional track on staff with a winning organization has taken them to a point when they are expected to “retire”.  In previous months we have pointed to this moment, indicating that we were developing a new path forward for you if you are in this position or have someone near you who is.

On April 7th, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, TRG presented a first full run of in TRG’s “Converting Your Career” (CYC) to a group of participants from multiple locations and backgrounds.  The result was a group of highly enthusiastic candidates for taking their skills and experiences into the realm of consulting ventures to be owned and operated by them.

For us at TRG the next steps are now underway as we move toward the next round of sessions.   The articles to the left this month are devoted to this theme.

Please let us know if CYC might be for you, either as a participant or as the beneficiary of helping us find top locations for ongoing rounds.

Best wishes as you plan your next moves forward,
Marc Paul Chinoy
